Sports shooter Hans Standl was qualified for the 1964 Tokyo Olympics, but had to withdraw after a severe car accident. He then finished ninth in rapid-fire pistol at the 1968 Mexico City Olympics. In 1984 he published the textbook Sportliches Pistolenschießen. Technik, Training, Wettkampf. (Pistol sports shooting. Technique, Training, Competition.). Standl was a policeman by profession and was affiliated with Polizei-Sportverein München.
