Biography

Walter Boninsegni was an Italian pistol shooter who competed at three Olympic Games. As a youth he practiced multiple sports but settled on sport shooting as his sports career of choice. Just missing a medal at the 1932 Los Angeles Olympics in rapid-fire pistol, Boninsegni returned to the Olympics in 1936 and, after the War, in 1948.

Boninsegni was World Champion in rapid-fire pistol in 1935 and Italian Champion from 1938-40. He had a long career, winning a silver medal at the 1955 Mediterranean Games. For his athletic accomplishments, he was awarded the Gold Medal of the Italian Olympic Committee and was awarded the Star for sporting merit.
