Just like his father Gustaf Boivie became a lawyer and notary at the Court of Appeals. After attending school in Stockholm he studied at universities in Uppsala and Lund, from where he graduated in 1892. He worked as a lawyer in Stockholm, becoming the head of Sweden’s bar association in 1910. From 1912 he served in the Governor-General’s office. Probably in his role as a notary, he held a patent on the “Process for the production of artificial stones from slate”.
In 1897 Boivie married Alfhilda Wilhelmina Emilia Wiklund with the couple having one daughter. At the 1912 Olympics in his hometown Stockholm, he competed in pistol and small-bore rifle events, winning gold with the Swedish team in the small-bore rifle, disappearing target team event. He later acted as secretary of Stockholm’s Shooting Association.
