Biography

Swedish sport shooter Lars-Göran Carlsson represented Nyköpings JK where he specialised in the skeet event. Carlsson won silver at the World Shotgun Championships in both 1977 and 1979, becoming a strong favourite ahead of the Moskva Olympics. At the Games he was one of five shooters who had all tied on 196 points, with them then contesting a shoot-off for the medals. After the first round Carlsson, Kjeld Rasmussen (DEN) and Roberto Castrillo (CUB) scored the maximum of 25 points to remain in the competition. The second round shoot-off saw Rasmussen shoot another perfect round to win gold, with Carlsson scoring 24 points to win silver, one point ahead of Castrillo.
