Biography

Rosemary Lassig was a breaststroker who helped Australia’s women to a silver medal in the inaugural Olympic medley relay at the 1960 Roma Olympics. She also swam the 200 breaststroke but did not qualify for the final. Her best event was the 100 breast, which was not on the 1960 Olympic Program. Lassig was undefeated in the 100 and 200m breaststroke at the Australian Championships between 1958 and 1960. She set multiple Australian records in breaststroke events.

She later married and became Rosemary Lluka. Lassig-Lluka carried the Olympic Torch during the torch relay before the 2000 Sydney Olympics. In later life, she was an avid tennis player and skier.
