Albert Nyman was the son of a Helsinki policeman. He competed in the plain high diving event at the 1912 Olympic Games in Stockholm but was eliminated in round one. In 1910 and 1911, he won the Finnish championship in springboard diving, while his best result in plain high diving at the national level was third place in 1910.
With his wife Maria Ingeborg Ekqvist, Nyman had one daughter.
