Biography

Odile Vouaux was 15-years-old when she joined the swimming team at ASPTT Nancy, where she became the French cadet champion in the 100 metres freestyle and 100 metres backstroke. These performances earned Vouaux a place on the Olympic team for the 1952 Helsinki Games where she was an alternate for the 4 × 100 metres freestyle relay but did not compete. Four years later she was again selected for the Olympics, this time swimming in the 100 metres freestyle and the 4 × 100 metres freestyle relay at the 1956 Melbourne Games. Vouaux retired from competitive swimming in 1958 and worked as a PE teacher at the Departmental Directorate of Youth and Sports.
