Biography

During the mid-1950s French swimmer Hugues Broussard represented FC Girondins de Bordeaux. In 1954 Broussard won his first of three consecutive national titles in the 200 metres breaststroke, representing France at several international competitions. At the 1955 Mediterranean Games he won gold in both the 200 metres breaststroke and the 4 × 100 metres medley relay, securing himself a spot on the Olympic team. At the Melbourne Games, Broussard swam in his favourite event, qualifying from the heats, but was then disqualified in the final.
