Biography

Between 1955-58 Peter Squires won six national diving titles. He won the high board title in 1955, the year that he also won the first of three plain diving titles, winning again in 1956 and 1959. In addition, Squires was the 3-metres springboard champion in 1957 and 1959. A member of the famous Highgate Diving Club, Squires went to the 1958 Cardiff British Empire and Commonwealth Games and finished fourth in the springboard event, won by fellow Englishman Keith Collin. At the 1960 Roma Olympics, Squires was classified 20th in the same event, just missing out on a place in the final 16. After his days as a competitive diver, Squires became a diving instructor.
