Biography

Andreas Hellmann was eliminated in the heats of both breaststroke events (100 and 200 m) at the 1972 München home Olympics. From 1971-90 he won several West German titles. He later studied medicine and became a specialist in pulmonology, internal medicine, allergology, and sports, social and environmental medicine at his home town Augsburg. From 2006-11 he was chairman of the Kassenärztliche Bundesvereinigung (National Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians).
