Biography

German diver Fritz Nicolai finished eighth on the platform at the 1906 Athina Olympics. Two years later in London he did not reach the finals on platform and springboard. In 1906 he was World Champion on platform.

As a longtime member of Frankfurter Schwimm Club 1891 Nicolai was honored for 35 years of membership in 1935. He frequently acted as an acrobat. During his career he often appeared as a jester dressed as a Negro alongside compatriots in human zoos. Now considered degrading and racist, in that era they were considered ethnological expositions. During carnival seasons Nicolai and a partner often appeared as Pat and Patachon.
