Biography

German freestyle swimmer Mark Pinger won two Olympic bronze medals in the 4x100 metres freestyle relay at Barcelona in 1992, and at Atlanta four years later. Pinger also participated in the 50 metres individual in 1992 and finished 11th. At the 1993 European Short Course Championships he won two silver medals.

In 1993, Pinger won his only national title, over 50 metres. He was awarded the Silver Bay Leaf, Germany’s highest sports award, also in 1993. By profession, he became a graduated business administrator. From 2011, he led Nike Germany as CEO.
