Biography
In Los Angeles in 1932, Takashi Yokoyama narrowly missed a medal in the 400 metre freestyle, placing fourth in the final but he won a gold medal in the 4 x 200 freestyle relay in world record time. He won his two national titles in 1931 in the 400 and 200 m freestyle. Yokoyama held a business degree from Waseda University. He died of a heart attack in 1945. In 1983, he became the first athlete to be inducted into the “Kochi Prefecture Sports Hall of Fame”.
