Biography

Christopher Dowling was a Maltese swimmer and water polo player. At the age of 16, Dowling represented Malta at the 1960 Roma Olympics. He swam in the 100 metres freestyle, finishing in 51st and last place. Dowling was also the flag bearer for Malta at the Opening Ceremony. Dowling was an established water polo player in Malta. He represented the Balluta Water Polo Club, and in 1963 he represented Malta at the Mediterranean Games.

Dowling set several national records in the 100 metres, won five league titles, and five national cups. He retired from swimming in 1973. The following year Dowling earned a degree and became a teacher.
