Biography

Bernhard Gaber, who had a doctorate in law, was chief of the head office of the Association of German Architects from 1928 to 1933, having already worked for the association since 1924. After the transition of the architects’ association into the Reich Chamber of Culture, which he accompanied, he became deputy managing director of the Reich Chamber of Fine Arts. In 1938 he had to resign for unknown reasons, but became chief editor of the Deutsche Bauzeitung, although he was at the front by 1941 at the latest.

After World War 2, Gaber first became managing director of the Hessen state association and then again of the Association of German Architects. He published numerous writings and articles on the professional policy objectives of this group. In 1962 he was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit.
