Biography

After an interval of 28 years, Lynn Burke of the Santa Clara Swim Club brought the women’s Olympic 100m backstroke title back to America. Her many other interests restricted her career as a top-flight swimmer, but she won four AAU individual titles and two in the relays. In 1960 she lowered the world 100m backstroke record four times within the space of three months. Lynn Burke later became a successful New York model, author, and business woman, and raised three children.
