Biography

Susan Johnson grew up in Naperville, Illinois but moved to Mission Viejo, California and later Boca Raton, Florida, to train with coach Mark Schubert. A breaststroker, she won US titles in the 100 breast in 1987 and the 200 breast in 1985. She also won four silver medals in breaststroke from 1985-87 at US Nationals. Johnson competed in both breaststroke events at the 1987 Pan Pacifics, winning a bronze in the 200 and placing fourth in the 100. She also competed at the 1985 Pan Pacs. After graduating from Boca Raton Academy in 1987, Johnson attended the University of Texas, where she majored in communications.
