Biography

Karen LaFace was a springboard diver who competed for The Ohio State University. In addition to her 1992 Barcelona Olympic appearance, LaFace won gold on springboard at the 1991 Pan American Games. She also won the 3-metre springboard at the 1990 Volksbank International in Vienna (Wien), Austria, and the 1990 US Olympic Festival. While at Ohio State she was NCAA Championship on the 1-metre springboard in 1987.

After college, LaFace attended medical school at the University of Pennsylvania. She did a residency in family medicine at Brown University, and then practiced in Ithaca, New York, specializing in women’s primary care. She also coached diving at Ithaca College.
