Biography

Jake Foster played water polo for the Brighton Club during the 1950s and 60s. An all-around sportsman he became President of the Kooyong Lawn Tennis Club, played with Richmond in the Victorian Football League, and fathered two Olympians. His son Peter won a bronze medal in canoeing, in the K-2 1,000 in 1988, and daughter Margot stroked Australia’s coxed four to the nation’s first medal in women’s rowing at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics. Foster’s career was as an eye doctor.
