Biography

Karl Bähre played for the German gold medal winning water polo team at the 1928 Amsterdam Olympic Games. With his eight goals Bähre was the leading German scorer in Amsterdam. He also came in second at the 1934 Europeans, and third in 1926, and played 33 international matches. With Wasserfreunde 98 Hannover Bähre earned German national titles in 1921-23, and 1927. Willi and Richard Bähre, Karl’s brothers, were also water polo players in Hannover. Willi was briefly a national team member and took part in some pre-season games for the Olympics in Amsterdam.
