Biography

Water polo player René Reimann represented West Germany at the 1988 Seoul Olympics, and re-unified Germany at the 1992 Barcelona and 1996 Atlanta Games. In 1988 the team finished fourth, losing the bronze medal match 14-13 against the Soviet Union. In 1992 they were seventh and in 1996 they placed ninth. In 1989, Reimann was on the squad that won the gold medal at the European Championships, and in 1995 he won a bronze medal. In total, he won 394 international caps.

Reimann played domestically with Wasserfreunde Spandau 04 and won eight national championships from 1985-92. He also helped them win the European Cup Winners’ Cup in 1985-86 and 1988. Reimann then moved to SSF Wuppertal for one season, and to SC Rote Erde Hamm, where he was seven times championship runner-up between 1993-2000. He then played with CN Martiánez in Spain, SC Kreuzlingen in Switzerland, and SV Bayer Uerdingen 08.

Reimann turned to coaching with Uerdingen 08, SC Kreuzlingen, the German women’s national team from 2009-12, and finally SGW Rote Erde / SV Brambauer. He then moved to professional tennis camps to coach several successful tennis players. Finally, he was a freelance fitness and sport coach.
