Biography

Danio Bardi was in the Army when he was called up for the Rome Olympics. He was the last to be picked as a base player. He scored two goals during the tournament, one of them critical in the 4-3 match against Romania (a spectacular splash shot), and one in the 3-3 draw against Hungary, when Italy had already secured the gold medal. In honor of his sporting achievements, Bardi was awarded a gold medal by the Italian Olympic Committee.
