Biography

A powerful defender, Emilio Bulgarelli played most of his career for RN Napoli, both before and after World War II. His team won the Italian title in 1939, 1941, 1942, 1949 and 1950. Bulgarelli added a sixth title playing for Olona (1947). That same year, he competed in his second European Championships (after 1938) and won the gold with the Italian team. A year later, the Italians also grabbed the Olympic gold, with Bulgarelli as full-back. In honor of his sporting achievements, he was awarded a Gold Medal by the Italian Olympic Committee.
