Biography

In addition to winning a bronze medal in 1924, Fred Lauer was an alternate on the 1928 team. Lauer played on the Illinois AC team that won the AAU indoor water polo championships six times, winning in 1924, 1927, 1930, and 1932-34. He was a goalkeeper. Lauer was a three-time All American and was elected to the US Water Polo Hall of Fame in 1979.

In 1936, his date of birth was given as 7 June 1903, but 1 Octotber 1898 - given in 1924 - seems the most likely one. Supported by other sources.
