Biography

Austrian weightlifter Kurt Pittner was a three-time Olympian from 1968 at Mexico City to 1976 at Montréal. At Mexico City he competed in bantamweight and placed tenth. Four years later at München he came fifth in the featherweight division and in 1976 had no valid lift in the snatch element in the bantamweight competition. Pittner won 15 national titles during his career. He also won three bronze medals at World Championships.

Pittne worked in a gas works as a house electrician after completing his apprenticeship as an electrical mechanic. Later he became a broadcast technician with the Austrian TV channel ORF.
