Biography

Attilio Bescapé was an Italian weightlifter who first competed with the Pavese club in 1929 before moving to Pro Patria Milano. He was European featherweight champion in 1934 and won the silver medal at the 1938 World Championships. He twice competed at the Olympics, finishing fifth at Los Angeles in 1932, and sixth at Berlin four years later. Domestically he was Italian champion 15 times, and set seven national records in military press, snatch and clean & jerk and, at the Berlin Olympics, set a new Olympic snatch record.
