Leif Jensen had the following podium finishes at major championships: 1st in the 1972 Olympics Light-Heavyweight class (507.5 kg); 2nd in the 1970 World Championships Middleweight class (455.0 kg); 2nd in the 1971 World Championships Middleweight class (467.5 kg); 1st in the 1972 World Championships Light-Heavyweight class (507.5 kg); 2nd in the 1974 World Championships Light-Heavyweight class (350.0 kg); 2nd in the 1972 European Championships Light-Heavyweight class (505.0). He set one middleweight snatch world record in 1973.
