Nicu Vlad had the following podium finishes at major championships: 1st in the 1984 Olympics Middle-Heavyweight class (392.5 kg.); 2nd in the 1988 Olympics Sub-Heavyweight class (402.5 kg.); 3rd in the 1996 Olympics Heavyweight class (420.0 kg.); 1st in the 1984 World Championships Middle-Heavyweight class (392.5 kg.); 3rd in the 1985 World Championships Sub-Heavyweight class (405.0 kg.); 1st in the 1986 World Championships Sub-Heavyweight class (437.5 kg.); 2nd in the 1987 World Championships Sub-Heavyweight class (420.0 kg.); 2nd in the 1989 World Championships Sub-Heavyweight class (412.5 kg.); 1st in the 1990 World Championships Sub-Heavyweight class (412.5 kg.); 2nd in the 1994 World Championships Heavyweight class (422.5 kg.); 1st in the 1985 European Championships Sub-Heavyweight class (400.0 kg.); 1st in the 1986 European Championships Sub-Heavyweight class (417.5 kg.); 2nd in the 1987 European Championships Sub-Heavyweight class (422.5 kg.); 2nd in the 1989 European Championships Sub-Heavyweight class (412.5 kg.); 2nd in the 1990 European Championships Sub-Heavyweight class (420.0 kg.); 2nd in the 1996 European Championships Heavyweight class (402.5 kg.).
