Aleksey Petrov had the following podium finishes at major championships: 1st in the 1996 Olympics Middle-Heavyweight class (402.5 kg); 3rd in the 2000 Olympics Middle-Heavyweight class (402.5 kg); 1st in the 1994 World Championships Middle-Heavyweight class (412.5 kg); 1st in the 1994 European Championships Middle-Heavyweight class (412.5 kg); 1st in the 2002 European Championships Middle-Heavyweight class (400.0 kg). He set five world records - two in the snatch, two in the clean & jerk, and one in the total.
