Biography

Ove Johansson was a Swedish weightlifter who was active in the late 1960s and early 1970s. In 1967 Johansson won his first national title when he became the champion in the +90 kg class, before retaining his title the following year. He then moved up to the +110 kg class, winning five consecutive titles from 1969 to 1973. At the 1968 Mexico City Olympics he competed in the heavyweight class (+90 kg), but failed to record a valid lift in the military press element of the competition. Despite the setback, Johansson returned four years later for the Games in München where he came ninth in the super-heavyweight class (+110 kg) with a combined total lift of 545.0 kg.
