Biography

Rich Schutz lifted for the US at the 1988 and 1992 Olympics as a heavyweight. He also competed at the 1987 and 1991 Pan American Games, winning six silver medals in the heavyweight class, in total, snatch, and clean & jerk at both Games. Schutz was US National Champion for nine consecutive years, 1986-94. He was also a five-time champion at US Olympic Festivals. His father, Fred Schutz, was 1958 US Champion in weightlifting as a light-heavyweight. Rich Schutz graduated from Northeastern Illinois University in 1990. He later obtained an MBA from Rosary College.
