Biography

Gianni Bertolotti was an Italian basketball player. He was a winger with strong offensive skills and spent his best years playing for Virtus Bologna from 1971-80, winning three Italian titles (1976, 1979-80) and the Italian Cup with them in 1974. In 1983 he arrived in Roma to play for Virtus and, in his only season in the capital, helped them lift the European Champion Clubs’ Cup. He quit the sport competitively in 1987 after three seasons with Trieste.

With the Italian national team Bertolotti played 101 games, scoring 706 points, and won a bronze medal at the 1975 European Championships in Beograd. He also competed at three other European Championships (1973, 1977, 1979), at the 1976 Montréal Olympic Games, and at the 1978 World Championships in Manila.
