Biography

Wilson Bombarda was first selected to represent Brazil at the Olympic basketball tournament in 1952, but suffered a knee injury during a friendly match and was unable to participate. Four years later, he was again selected for the Olympic squad and this time took part in his nation’s sixth-place finish, in addition to holding the Brazilian flag in the opening ceremony. He had better luck at international competitions in-between, winning silver at the 1954 World Cup and bronze at the 1955 Pan American Games. He captured another Pan American bronze in 1959, and domestically played for at least five teams over the course of his career.
