Biography

Hvitfeldt Hansen was eliminated early at the 1912 Olympics after losing his first two bouts by fall in the middleweight A division of Greco-Roman wrestling. His first international experience came in 1907 when he was just 17 years old at the unofficial European Championships. In 1917, he was runner-up in the 62 kg class (lightweight) of the Danish Championships. In the same year, he won the regional Jutland Championship in the same class for his club Vejle AK.

Hansen continued his career for many years having his last match at the age of 42. In 1947, he wrote in his anniversary booklet to “the young sportsmen of today: You should train more and smoke less, because the harder you train, the easier it is when you come out to fight.”
