Biography

The 1928 Olympics were the only major international tournament in which Aukusti Sihvola participated. At the Olympics, Sihvola lost to the eventual gold medal winner Johan Richthoff in the first round, but then defeated his two opponents Ed Don George and Edmond Dame in the second-place tournament and won a silver medal. In addition to his Olympic silver, Sihvola won six Finnish titles: in 1927-28 and 1931 in freestyle heavyweight and in 1929-30 and 1934 in freestyle light-heavyweight.
