Biography

Henry Witherall of London’s German Gymnastic Society lost his only match in the bantamweight, freestyle event, in a fall to eventual silver medal winner William Press. He continued to be active in amateur wrestling in the years following the Olympics with the German Gymnasium.

Witherall later served in World War I with the Royal Air Force and Royal Navy and was in the pawnbroking business for most of his working life.
