Born in Upper Franconia, Andreas Dumrauf was trained as a baker, when he came to the town of Weingarten, near Karlsruhe, where he joined the local wrestling club. At the 1912 Stockholm Olympics, he lost in the second round against Norwegian Herbrand Lofthus in the Greco-Roman lightweight class. A few years later, he worked for the railways. He served in World War I and was wounded. After World War I, Dumrauf became coach at his home club SV Germania 04 Weingarten and was the club’s president for several years. He also held posts in regional sports bodies. After World War II, he lived in Hirschaid, near Bamberg, with his second wife. He died at the age of 66 after a fall from a bicycle.
