Biography

After Herbrand Lofthus won his first Norwegian title in the 68 kg division, he placed 8th at the 1911 unofficial World Championships in the 67 kg category. He claimed one more national title in 1916, was runner-up in 1913 and 1915 (the latter in the 74 kg) and placed third in 1912. At The Stockholm Olympics, he won three of his first four bouts in the lightweight division, when he was eliminated by losing to future bronze medalist Edvin Mathiasson in round five. Later, he became a well-known ski-jumper representing SFK Lyn and competed at the Holmenkollen.
