Biography

Günter Maas was a light-flyweight wrestler eliminated in the third round of the Greco-Roman event at the 1972 München Olympics. He was finally placed ninth. Domestically, he won West German national titles in both styles in 1969 and 1970, and added three more Greco-Roman titles in 1971-72 and 1976. By profession, Maas was a school teacher. After his active wrestling career, he became a youth coach with the Saarland Wrestling Federation for many years.
