Márton Lőrincz took up wrestling while working as a carpenter in Transylvania. When he moved to Budapest, he continued wrestling in the colors of the MAC and competed in bantamweight both in freestyle and Greco-Roman. In 1934, he won the Hungarian championship in Greco-Roman, and in 1935 in the freestyle. From 1934 to 1937 he was a member of the Hungarian national team. At the European Championships in Stockholm in 1934 he won the only gold medal of the Hungarian delegation in freestyle. In 1935, despite being injured, he came second at the European Championship. At the 1936 Berlin Olympics he competed in Greco-Roman and won the gold medal.
In addition to his sports career, he was an employee of the local traffic company in Budapest. In 1938 he gave up competitive sports and worked as a coach. After the Second World War he went abroad where he held wrestling shows in circuses. He settled in Argentina in 1948 where he had a car repair shop and opened a wrestling school.
Hungary
