Biography

Mohammad Hossein Mohebbi wrestled freestyle middleweight at the 1976 Montréal Olympics, where he captained the Iranian team, but he went out after two losses in the first two rounds. He was more successful at the World Championships, winning a silver medal in 1978. At the Asian Games Mohebbi won gold in 1982 and bronze in 1986, and at the Asian Championships he won gold medals in 1979, 1981, 1983, and 1987 and a bronze medal in 1989. He was often confused with his twin brother Mohammad Hassan Mohebbi, who wrestled at 90 kg, but never competed at the Olympics.
