Biography

Jan Żurawski was a Polish freestyle wrestler who was an 11-time national champion. Żurawski won his first national title in 1958 as a featherweight and went on to win 10 more titles over the next 10 years. From 1959 to 1965 he had a spell of top-six finishes at the World Championships with his best result being fifth in 1965 in Manchester, England. Żurawski competed as a featherweight at the 1960 Roma Olympics where he lost two of his three bouts.

As well as competing as a wrestler Żurawski was also a coach with some of his pupils also being Olympians including Andrzej Kudelski, Henryk Mazur, Tadeusz Trojanowski, and Andrzej Kubiak.
