Biography

Fritz Johansson was born in a village near Malmö, where he wrestled for the local club IK Sparta. At the 1912 Olympics, he was the youngest competitor in the wrestling tournament at just 19 years of age. After a great start in the middleweight A with two wins by fall, he lost the next two bouts against Finnish wrestlers and was eliminated after round four. No top three placing of Johansson at Swedish Championships has been recorded. However, in December 1918, contemporary newspapers reported his victory in an international tournament in Stockholm.
