Although weighing only 130 lbs., the gritty George Dole played football at Yale as well as wrestling. He had a bit more success wrestling – he won the 1905 intercollegiate title and the 1908 AAU Championship at 135 lbs. Dole also earned a graduate degree in economics from Yale and became an economics professor as well as a football coach. Unfortunately he died rather young from heart failure.
