Biography

George Metropoulos wrestled both freestyle and Greco-Roman at the 1920 Antwerpen Olympics. He and Nate Pendleton were the first US wrestlers to compete at the Olympics in both styles. Metropoulos represented the Gary YMCA of Gary, Indiana. He was born in Greece, but emigrated with his family in June 1912 and was naturalized as a US citizen just in time for the 1920 Olympics, in June 1920.
