Edvin Hagberg was a civil engineer in Stockholm. With his wife Hanna Matilda (née Johansson) he had one son.
Hagberg competed in sailing at two Olympic Games. In 1908, he placed fifth as a crew member of the Saga in the 8-metre class when the boat did not finish in race two. Four years later, he sailed aboard the Sass in the 6-metre class. In 1912, after places three and four in the two races, the yacht narrowly lost the match-race for bronze against the second Swedish boat Kerstin.
