Biography

Ron Jenyns represented the Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron and dominated sailing in the Finn class in Australia in the 1960s. Jenyns won his first national title in 1959 before winning another 10 titles throughout his career (1960–64, 1966–68, 1970–71). In 1960 he competed at the Roma Olympics where he finished fourth. Eight years later he returned to the Olympics, participating at the 1968 Mexico City Games. Jenyns once again just missed out on a medal when he finished fourth, despite winning the second of the seven races of the competition. A string of bad results, however, including not finishing the third race, ruled him out of contention for a podium place. Following his competitive sailing career he worked in game fishing in northern Queensland.
