Turkish sailor Haluk Kakış competed in the Flying Dutchman and the Finn classes, competing in the latter at the Olympics. In 1964 Kakış took part in the Tokyo Games where he finished 25th out of the 33 sailors who started. Two of his sons also represented Turkey at the Olympics: İbrahim competed as a windsurfer at the 1988 Seoul Games and Selim sailed in the 470 class at the 2004 Athina Games.
