Biography

Erich Moritz was an Austrian sailor who participated at the 1960 Rome Olympics. His crew finished 17th in the 5.5 metre class. The same year he won his only Austrian national title. Moritz returned to the Olympics in 1972 partnering the famous Austrian sailor Herbert Raudaschl in the two-person keelboat tempest class. They placed tenth. By profession, Moritz became a surgeon, the senior physician at the II Surgery Department of the University Hospital in Vienna, head of the 2nd Surgical Department at the Salzburg State Hospital from 1986, and professor of surgery at the University Clinic for Surgery Paracelsus Medical Private University at Salzburg from 2002.
