Arvid Perslow was the illegitimate son of Swedish architect Carl Johan Albin Hammar (1857-1892), who was sent to Hamburg two years after Arvid’s birth, where he died at a fairly young age. After spending some time in an orphanage Perslow became the foster son of a builder. It came as no surprise that he was also trained as an architect and builder. He worked in these professions in Stockholm until his death. He designed approximately 10 residential buildings in the 1920s. His company, Delin & Perslow was commissioned in 1925 to build the southern Kungstornet (King’s Tower), which – together with its northern twin – is considered to be among Europe’s first skyscrapers.
With his wife Gerda Elvira (née Sundström) he had one daughter and one son. At the 1912 Olympic Games in Stockholm he was a member of the crew of the Marga placing fourth and last in both races of the 10-metre class.
